Layette Program

The layette program was what the National Christ Child Society was founded upon, and it is the cornerstone of every chapter. Volunteers gather together and fill bags with a collection of essential supplies for newborns such as clothes, books, toothbrushes, and more.

We then partner with local businesses and charities to distribute the layettes to people in need.

Why We Do It

Studies have shown that the first several months of an infant’s life can have a tremendous impact on how their mind develops. The power of positive and nurturing relationships in a child’s early life can ensure their ability to manage stress and lead healthy lives as an adult.

The goal of the layette program is to improve the well-being and security of caregivers, in the hopes that those positive dynamics will also transfer to their child. We want to help the children find support and solace during the most formative period of their lives.

How We Do It

Our layettes are packed by small groups: Each group (girl and boy scout troops, children from religious schools and catechism classes, members of youth and adult groups) prepare a layette for a baby.

We provide the items for the day of packing along with curriculum ideas as they study and prepare for this task. This newest little one will be loved unconditionally by the God who loves us all. In faith, we welcome this precious child to our world with a vow to pray for them.
